Is Creeping Charlie in your lawn a good thing or a bad thing?
Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
You will have to dig them up and any "babies" that you see sprouted from from bulbs you planted.
It will take some work, bit if you want to be rid of them this is the best way. I always water my area really well first and cot the tops back to keep them put of our face. With your large shovel begin digging a circle around the plant. You should be able to wiggle it as you het closer to the bottom. If needed, water more. Once you get there you will see the roots have spread out to anchor the plant in place, that's why I said water it. They tend to loosen up a bit with wet ground. Try to wiggle the plant again, forcefully if needed. When you can get your shovel under the bulb lift it up and remove it. Shake off any excess dirt. Use your shovel head to break up the dirt in hole a little and fill it in.
Now, replant it or toss it. Clean your tools and your done.
Lori has given a thorough explanation, Rosemary. Digging bulbs like these is a really big job. Once planted, they can live outside for years, creating new bulbs each year. And the root stock just digs in deeper. Best wishes in getting rid of yours, Rosemary. ☺️
I just did this with Lily of the Valley. It takes work but once it's done, it's done.
I'll take them!
