if the wallpaper is stuck tight, you can paint over it or re wallpaper. if you paint, use a very light touch with the roller. very thin coat. if it bubbles don't worry, when it dries the bubbles will flatten. when completely dry, put on another really thin coat. and so on. till you have the color you want. if you rewallpaper, use a premixed vinyl primer (sherwin williams) over the old wall paper before you hang the new.
I had wallpaper on a wall that woułd not come off, so I painted over it , two coats and it turned out great.
Hi Roseann,
Well I have seen wallpapered walls using Satin finish. You will see the joints though. Looks better if wallpaper has a raised design on it. Depending on the colour and type of wallpaper you may well need more than one coat! Some folk even paper over paper, but don't line up with the same joints..........Good luck!
how about paneling the walls and painting over the paneling. Here's another suggestion. there is textured wallpaper that will cover up the boo-boos under it. get the paintable kind. may solve your problem. how about grasscloth. it comes in all colors.
How about just calling a pro to take down the wallpaper and painting it. may be worth the trouble. it's a real pain if you have high walls. I know, I did it for a living for 7 years.
I just used Home Depot textured paint over all the wall paper. Came out great.
