How to refinish a clawfoot and add a shower?
This is for a shared beach house. There is an older, generously-sized clawfoot tub in guest bedroom. Is there an economical way to refinish it and add a shower component? Tub sits near center of room and does not have any surround. (One owner wants to remove tub and purchase whole new bath, shower unit, saying this would be less expensive than updating existing tub.)
Thanks Carol

There are faucets for tubs that have a shower pipe that is kept outside the wall. It is just steadied up to with a bracket to the wall. But if the tub is too far from the wall, just get a handheld wand that's attached to the bottom tub fauset.
You may need to find these on line since they are not commonly needed items. Also, a round shower curtain rod, hung from the ceiling.
You get one one of these surround shower rigs, a ceiling mount one for center room tub, and buy a 360 degree shower curtain.... https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_20?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=clawfoot+tube+shower+kit&sprefix=clawfoot+tube+shower%2Caps%2C215&crid=BIT84YZU0X1H

You need to hang from ceiling an oval rod system made for claw foot tubs. Add the shower rod fixtures, also supported at ceiling. If tub needs refinishing, use a prof co. Paint the exterior with oil based paint. I did a faux marble. Enjoy your tub.
