How to "temporarily" cover the wood at the back of my bookshelves...
My small office is totally wood. I want to cover the back of the bookshelves and I am wondering if contact paper would ruin the wood (my husband treasures any/all wood.) Originally, I wanted to paint the entire room as well as the bookshelves BUT received a big NO.

Don't use contact paper.use fabric you can just rap and staple
If you want to temporarily add color to the backs of your bookshelves 1. you could cut cardboard to pretty much the exact size of the space between each shelf. 2. Then temporarily stick the cardboard in the space between the shelves you wanted to color, this is pre-fitting the cardboard for the exact size. 3. if it is a snug fit it will stay in place by itself . 4. Do this for each of the spaces in the bookcases. 5. Carefully remove the cardboard templates, and paint them whatever color you desire. 6. When the cardboard is dried, carefully put the cardboard back in the correct spaces. You get the color you want, without permanently altering the bookshelf.
Pretty fabric, dip in liquid fabric starch then apply to the inside back. Once you don’t want it anymore peel off and clean the wood with warm water.
