How do I raise a bathroom vanity?
We just bought a house and the bathroom vanity sits really low (hits at mid thigh). Is there a safe and inexpensive way to raise that up without looking bad?

Safe is a matter of knowing what to do. You will need to unbolt it from the wall, remove the mirrors, call a plumber to move the plumbing, reinstall to desired height and reinstall by adding feet and finish off the toe kick, reorient the mirrors and rehang. Not a simple process but can easily be done with good planning.
Kate. Legs could be added but not sure how high you are talking nor how much damage the vanity will make when you lift it. You might just remove the top add additional drawers across it then replace top. Also new top and add the new design of bowl type sinks but again my be more work than you want to do because would require fixtures. Maybe this is just food for thought.
The standard height of a bathroom vanity cabinet is 32″. If you are planning on selling your house in the near future, keep this in mind.
If you know what you are doing the easiest way is to build a frame/ box to sit the vanity on, then just screw the vainly to the frame/ box . Should be safe. I need to do the same thing for my bathroom and this was my brother in-law idea... hope this helps
Standard bathroom is 31 but that's fairly short for most and comfort height of 35 is becoming common.
It's easy to raise if you're handy. The box is the best way to go. Use 2×4s under the sink, stain to match. If you have a ReStore nearby can probably find false front.
I go with Alvin. Build a platform you can set the vanity on. Of course you will need to modify the plumbing a little.
If you plan to re-use the countertop it will have to be removed very carefully so not to damage it. Your top appears to be one piece which means it is siliconed to the top of the cabinet and the top of the backsplash which will have to be cut. I believe that can be done with a putty knife then it can lifted very carefully after the plumbing is disconnected.
Instead of raising the vanity, have you considered removing the integrated sink/counter top?
You can create a comfortable working height for all your grooming needs by raising the bowl height without raising the vanity.
You would add several inches in height by installing a new counter, set bowl sinks on top with taller faucets.
A good idea is to get the largest diameter bowl that will fit the space. These sinks are more "bird bath" and small ones mean more splash overs.
