the banana trees don't like cold so they might have to be in a garage or some kind of shelter-what are the other plants-some of them could probably be planted
Generally speaking I find the garden centers only sell plants in season. So if they are selling them now you should be able to plant them soon. However, I am not sure about banana trees as they do seem to require special planting time, especially in cooler climates. Call your garden center or go online for more information.
Spring they have a better chance to make it, the ground starts to get warm
Put them in now. Fall is a fantastic time for planting, be sure to use a good planting mix. When you say banana It implies hardy banana. In Texas it will want to be in the ground.
Your plants will have a harder time if you wait until spring to get them in. By planting now they will have a chance to acclimate to the new location. Another benefit is your new place will feel homey.
... I don't know where you are in Texas, but we certainly get snow and ice!! Not like some areas of the country - but even Dallas/Ft. Worth and the panhandle areas certainly get snow!!
