Make Rustic Stars Out of Sticks
Do you love craft and DIY projects that are free as much as I do?
These adorable rustic looking stars are completely free to make. You just have to gather some sticks from your yard or a local park. That, plus some string and a little creativity, and you're on your way.
See the tutorial below. You can see more photos, plus download a free DIY guide over at Single Girl's DIY.
SUPPLIES:
All you need for this project is sticks, twist ties or wire, and string. You can cut the sticks to any length, depending on the size of the star you want. For your first try 10" - 12" is a good length to start.
STEP 1:
Start the star shape by making an "A" out of three sticks (or bunches of sticks). Temporarily secure them together where they cross each other, using wire or twist ties.
STEP 2:
Add in the other two sticks to complete the star shape. All cross points are secured by twist ties that will be removed later.
Secure the points by wrapping string or twine around several times, and then tying a knot.
STEP 3:
Once the points are securely tied, you can remove the twist ties, and tie string at those junctions as well.
STEP 4:
You can leave your star plain like this, or you can add any sort of embellishments you like.
Here's how mine turned out. I wrapped the twigs with a silver cord, and added a repurposed pendant from a broken necklace.
My friends and I made these together at a craft night, and I was totally inspired by their creativity. You can see how they looked here.
