You don't say what style you are interested in... I would use wood and battery candles and some chain of or rope to hang it. Some of the newer battery operated candles , now have moving " flames " that are quite realistic and they have remote controls !

Get an old chandelier from a thrift shop, remove wires, clean it well, spray paint it and add battery candles to it. Here is a great tutorial.
