How to winterize ferns?
I have lots of annual ferns and not enough room to grow store in my house. Is there a way to store the roots so I dont have to buy all new ones for the yard?

Hi Mary Ann,
The recommendation is to bring them inside, but you can also cut them back. If you don't have a lot of room, you could put them in a large container (with something on the bottom for drainage ). This article explains how to do it, but I've also read that you can cut them back a lot further so planting several in a container might work. Just keep them watered and give them some light to keep them alive. They may not look pretty in the winter but come next year when you plant them back outside they will perk up and go back to looking beautiful. I hope this helps.
