Is it safe to replant peony?
I've heard it might be tricky. Is it true? What is the best way to that? It's this year's plant. No flowers yet.
I've never cut them back just waited till they died back to the ground but once frost gets them, you may as well cut them back.
You will want to leave your green peony leaves on as long as possible. I live in a Zone 3 and I just cut mine back. They were still green but we had snow and 20 degree temps in the morning.
