The film goes on inside.
Every exterior window film that I researched for you comes with specific instructions for that product. You would have to decide what window film you would like to buy and then follow the instructions that come with the product you purchased.
Never seen it on the outside. I believe it goes on the inside. Not sure what kind of film you are referring too
Most of the time the window film goes on the inside. However, if you don’t have a storm window in place, it’s possible to to put a thicker plastic sheet across the window on the out side.
