Yes, but the newest is using bubble wrap. It adds like a double window with a bonus of color the sun makes in the bubbles. The net shulould tell you how to apply. You can buy it in rolls from an office supply, maybe Lowes, Amazon.

If you prefer, add heavy weight draperies with thermal liners to your windows. Draperies measuring 2.5 to 3x the width of the drapery rod (plus 'returns") offer the best insulating value.
Yes--this heat shrink plastic works very well. It is often on sale in the fall and very easy to apply. You can try a few windows. I use it every year even though my windows are less than 10 years old. It is very cold in the winter where I live and I do everything I can to keep winter outside! You will notice less cold draft if you use this plastic and if you have storm windows you will notice that you don't get frost on the storm window glass.
