Hi guys im starting both a flower and vegetable gardens,the piece of land has never been workod on before i have bought everything from compost to insect killing staff to manure. For my flower garden im interested in doing a rose garden,which vegies are the best for this season

How do you make your own peat pods for an Aero grow?
I have an Aero grow garden that uses cigar shaped peat pods to start seeds in. I was wondering if anyone knows how to their own pods?
You must really worked the soil by tilling it several times, racking, tilling again and finally leveling it. As you till you can mixed in the compost. Be careful of what manure you use. Some can be too "hot" and will need to age. Depending where you are located you can any number of things now. Peas, cabbage, some lettuce and carrots due well in cooler weather. Check with your local University Extension Service and a local nursery/garden center for what is good for the particular location.
A good way to till and weed is to plant your fist crop as potatoes this way you get food as well as tilling and weeding. If you are keen to get going put half of the plot to potato and then just put in hard work digging and weeding and planting the second bit. Bare rooted roses can go in now.
