Can I root these pieces of a camellia that I accidentally cut off?
I was cutting away a tree that had somehow been in the pot when I bought a camellia bush about 4 yrs ago. The accidental plant had grown to be at least 12 ft tall but my camellia was being pushed aside at the bottom and I had no idea. I always wondered why my "camellia" only bloomed at the bottom until a landscape architect friend discovered there were two separate plants growing in the same space. Yesterday I cut away the one I didn't want and accidentally cut off these 3 pieces of the camellia, complete with buds. 😢 Is there a way to save these by rooting them?

How can I root a hydrangea limb that I accidentally broke off ?
It's a very young hydrangea bush, not very big at all. I put it in a vase of water outside until I can figure out how to properly root it!!
you can try scraping off some of the bark, dipping in in rooting hormone and putting it in a growing medium. wet it well, cover with plastic and give it about 4/6 weeks. it may or may not root. never know.
The best way to root camellias, is just after they flower. When the flowers start to look brown on the edges, cut the flower about 6 to 7 inches from the bush. Stick them in moist soil and keep the soil moist. They will root for you soon and I have done this many times. It works.
probably not, but, try it like the blooms, anyway. It is worth a try.
just use a clear or almost clear trashbag and put in the whole tray. use regular potting soil for your plant medium. rooting medium has little styrofoam balls in it. could never see how that was any better than just plain dirt. the trash bag is to keep it moist so you don't have to water it all the time. keep it near a window where it gets light but not outside in the direct sun or they will cook. it's like a greenhouse.
maybe a garage window.
