How do I maintain a carved pumpkin??
Hi,
Last weekend we carved 6 pumpkins and put it in a bucket with water and some Clorox. I read that was a good idea for it not to go bad. Well they got black inside, the smiles on 2 of them shrunk. It looked like a cute old person with no teeth. We’re trying again this weekend. So my question is, how can I make them last longer?? I couldn’t take pictures cause they were black and gross inside so I threw them away. Please help.
Thank you. 😊
Nora

Put Ice inside the Pumpkin!
You can’t for very long, wait till a couple of days before Halloween, then carve. They still make a beautiful porch decoration just add some orange, purple green lights around them and some goulies 👻💀
Carved pumpkins last no time at all. Depending on your climate, carve no more than a couple days in advance. In warmer climates, try and carve same day.

Here in Zone 9 it can still be quite toasty on Halloween. (89° here today) When the kids were little, one of us would work only a half day, then come home and prep the pumpkins for carving. Kept the kids busy until it was time for an early dinner and going out to gather candy.
