When can I come over, do you want a bottle of wine? :-)
Have a condiment bar with soup and chili fixings. Sour cream, fresh chopped onions, grated cheese, salsa, oyster crackers, etc. A bottle or two of hot sauce like tobasco. It is all in the presentation. Look at how restaurants and catering companies set up their tables. Pretty table cloth, cute containers for condiments, bowls, plates, silverware and napkins, etc.

If you have space, set up the soup/chili in one area, the desserts in another and a beverage station elsewhere. I have a very small house and manage to spread it out (and mine have to be dog proof! I have a girlfriends with Ridgebacks and a Dane, they can eat off a table if tempted!), I have the beverages on the patio with an ice chest and bucket with sodas, juices and water. The kitchen counter and stove for the crockpots and soup pots and condiments are on a kitchen cart, the kitchen table (mine is bar height) for the sweets. I set out plates and bowls at all stations and a basket of silverware on the dessert table. It's tight, but it works. People mingle in and out and most people hang outside in the yard. If nippy, I have the patio heater on and the fire pit going. Today is supposed to be in the low 90's and Halloween looks to be the same.
Hope these help!
