You can treat for them when you first spy them in your garden. I use Sevin dust on the plants

These are the adults of lawn grubs. Use Milky Spore every year on your lawn and garden for three years consecutively. It's applied early Spring.

Alternatively, apply Grub X granules with a lawn spreader early Spring. It requires yearly application.

      Hi, Bob,

Unless your area prohibits it, I can find no evidence of a ban on Milky Spore. There were bans issued for Dursban, some years ago, and any 2-4D product has been suspected of being a carcinogen, for years, as has chlorpyrifos.

Depending on how bad the infestation is you may need more than a single application of a product. We had to order a lawn service that treated for grubs and later in the season to have the trees (Linder) sprayed. See Peggy's helpful answer.

We live on the East Coast and put our Beetle traps out first week in June and change the bags as needed, be sure to seal bags good before putting in trash dumpster. And we leave the traps until we see no more beetles which can be up into August.

The thing is- if everyone would put traps out in their yard there wouldn't be so many darn beetles!

I was told that the traps will attract more beetles to my garden
