Pour some baking soda down the drain. Then pour some vinegar down the drain. Immediately cover the drain with a cloth. The pressure will clear the clog. If a double sink cover both drains. Then run hot water to further clean the drain.
I do the same as William and if you do it regularly, it helps keep things clear.
To clear a slow drain that you suspect is clogged with gunk (recognize that this method might not work as well if your problem is a hair-clogged drain), here's what you should do: Set a full tea kettle on the stove to boil. Dry your sink out with a rag. Now, measure a 1/2 cup baking soda and dump it down your drain.
Check the pipe for any large obstructions first. After reassembling the drain, use William's method but instead of running hot water use boiling water.
