The mica cardboard covers the waveguide system that feeds microwave energy into the cavity and should not be removed. The microwave should not be used for any function if this cardboard cover is not in place. That being said here is a DIY video on replacing one-

If your microwave is not too old, call the manufacturer with the model number and see if you can order a new one.
