Been there . . .several times. Just do the absolute minimum you can do within your capabilities. If you have any friends you can call so that you can sit and just direct, that would be great. If not, be happy with what you can do. I was just grateful I made it through the surgery and even though it would be a long recuperation time, knowing things would go back to a "new normal" was good enough. One holiday season to give up considering I had the rest of my life was good enough for me.

I would make or buy a large wooden sign that says Happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas and place it on your stoop. For Thanksgiving you could add a large pumpkin (faux so it's not heavy) next to the sign and for Christmas you could add a small faux tree in a planter.
