How do I paint galvanized structure on carports?
Can someone tell me what kind of preparations I need to do to paint my galvanized structure on my car ports? Someone told me I need to wipe it down with vinegar before painting! Is this true? Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Vinegar will work, but must be rinsed and let dry thoroughly before priming. Whoever suggested that, probably uses because it is incredibly inexpensive. TSP or any degreaser, (rubbing alcohol would work too, you just need the surface squeaky clean and dry) will work. Let dry thoroughly in between coats.
Yes. You need to cut through the zinc galvanized coating or paint will crack and peel.. Vinegar is acid enough to do it. Back in the day of galvanized gutters, vinegar was used to etch the coating for paint.
