You can. You can use a typical thinset mortar installation. Your subfloor needs to be flat and strong enough to take the weight of brick and mortar otherwise it will flex and crack, and you will want to use a cement board backer. You will also need to seal the brick. And like tile, it will be cold unless you have radiant heat underneath.
I agree! Use thinset mortar to adhere the brick. Then use regular grout or mortar mix for the joints. You can seal it or not if you choose.
When you say 'halfbrick' do you mean thin brick? If so, they have instructions for floor install in the packaging. It would install the same as how you'd install a tile floor.
