    Hello Iretha,

    I understand your problem.

My very favorite weeding tool is the foot operated weed popper. It physically catapult ps the crabgrass out of the soil. Its a satisfying result.

They’re getting hard to find- I’m I have to find myself an emergency back up to have on hand -because I cannot be without his tools. Use your foot on the pedal and the weed pops out. Exactly like this video. I do not like the newer redesigned models!

Additionally I have put some plumbing gray pipe insulation around the wooden handle which makes it more comfortable and easy to grip. It does take some bending down to current collect all your popped up weeds.

If this tool is unavailable perhaps there is amother tool out there that might pop the crabgrass out.

There is a corn gluten based granular product that can be applied for crabgrass, but it takes very special timing and multi year applications to gain control.

Timing is the key, which is problemmatic in many areas of the U.S., where weather goes from winter snow to Spring monsoons...., to ridiculously elevated temps, causing overnight emergence of crabgrass seeds.

You can try post emergents, but they are usually not as successful.

It doesn't have a very deep root base so digging it out is probably your best option then burn the roots.

Round up It works by being absorbed into leaves down thru plant into root system killing plant . The more you break off crabgrass the more it spreads under ground, even if you think you are removing it if you leave any pieces of root system they keep growing, more it's like pruning shrubs. If you follow the safety instructions on bottle it's as safe to use as any other chemicals like pesticides on our pets for flea, tick & mosquito control;all the paint & chemicals that DIYer's,crafters, construction trades people use to fix, beautify, clean after then dump down drains.
