How do you make a small room look larger than it is?
I have a master bedroom the closet is with folding doors on the same wall is where you walk in from the hallway. As you enter in on the right at the very end is the 3/4 bathroom. The next wall has sliders across most of the wall. The last wall has a window near the closet door and that is the only wall the headboard can go on. If you put in a king size bed it swallows the room up. How can you make a room like this inviting? There is no lighting overhead. What paint color would help and how can I make this basic closet with folding doors look more appealing. I love tranquility but it does not feel like a space like that , can anyone help and give me ideas. I have hardwood floors in there that need to be refinished or would carpet be better?

A couple of ideas... paint the walls a light shade, keep the ceiling white. Either re finish your floors in a light shade or throw an area rug with lighter colors in it. Maybe make a "fake " window.. but a used window at a yard sale , clean it and spray one side with Krylon looking glass spray paint.do a few light coats. Then add some hooks and hang it on the wall, can even put curtains around it. It will help reflect light and light colors.
Could you add any pics Lana?
Hardwood floors are always a great choice. I also find that mirrors help to make a space look larger and can help with adding to light. From your open. curtains
Don't make the mistake with going too light darker colors add a rich and elegant feel to the room. Filly
I would paint the room a light color. I would add some interest to the wall with the bed on it a feature wall color. Pick up a color from your bedding. A chandelier in the center of the room would look stunning! It's cooler now, so add plump comforters and blankets to make it look inviting. Your side tables should be small, but with a couple of drawers for storage.
I appreciate your advice. I am so greatful that there are people that will take their time from their very busy schedules to help out a total stranger. Thank you so much.
I had a small master bedroom too. We had four windows, two that were pretty much covered by a huge headboard. We put sliding mirrored doors on the closet, painted the room a light sage color and had lots of lights (on nightstands, bureau and on ceiling fan). I did find that the least amount of furniture the better. These are pictures of the room (really small) and the last one is to show the color of the walls and the detail on the mirrors.
The bride made the room really shine. Your room looked so cozy and welcoming. I will be heading out to see what I can do to make my space as dreamy as yours. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and especially the pictures. Great ideas.
