I would do plants and shrubs in large containers like half whiskey barrels
Maybe you could put in log planters against the building or standing separately in front of the main parking area and fill it with annuals like petunias that will spread out and bloom. Planters always make a nice addition to any area. Also maybe a sitting bench between the planters as petunias have wonderful aromas. Just an idea or two
I saw a gas station (yes a gas station) that was divided into areas. There was a sitting area with tables, chairs, pretty painted waste baskets and umbrellas for shade. A area for plants that had large rectangular planters with benches in between. A third area with included a pond and mini wind mill. surrounded by large gravel A parking area and of course gas pumps.
