Iron stains from water or hot iron?
Sounds like rust stain from the steam. Pour lemon juice over top and then sprinkle salt over and set in the sun. This usually removes rust stains. You can also use a pre-laundry stain remover, let sit and then wash in warm water.
I've always favored Whink® Rust Stain Remover. It is a liquid that you simply squirt onto the rust stain, which immediately dissolves. Then you wash the item.
I never had a problem, but some dyes may not be colorfast with this product. Keep this product in an upper cabinet so children cannot get hold of it. Be careful to get the correct formulation as some rust removers are intended for other uses.
I have used lemon juice, it will interact with the rust turning it black then put it in the washer, comes right out!!!
