I have seen posts recommending ammonia to clean cast iron. Will that remove the sticky residue that collects on them & the burner caps?
I use a sos pad. Yours looks just like my stove...you can lift up/off the burner to clean easier.
Use a product called Krud Kutter. You can get it at home depot/ lowes or online. It works really well for degreasing
Apply Bar Keeper's Friend cleanser to wet surface. Wait 30 seconds, then rub. You will need to apply a great deal of "elbow grease", but it will wipe off.
You may need repeat applications, and may need to wrap you fingernail under a microfiber cloth to avoid scratching, but this BKF is the best solution for cleaning without scratching.
Wendy. Take the black circle off the stove, next take the burner off, it lifts off. Wash both in soapy water. Let dry in the sink rack. Now put the silver burner in the toaster oven, to dry it completely, about 10 minutes at 250. If you need to use SOS on the burner when washing it ok. Don't use it on the black circles. Clean the stove with a mild soap, (soft soap) or bon Ami. Return the burner, after they cool down. Turn on the gas, some holes might not light right away, just wait. If the gas doesn't come through the holes,. Turn it off, and use a skewer, a thin wooden one, to poke the holes. Put the gas on again, and all of your burners will light. Give it a minute. Next return you black circle to the top of the burner, and turn it on again. Put back your grates, and you can scrub them too. Aloha¡
What I do to get rid of buildup like that is to take an old tea towel and soak it with straight ammonia, place it over all the soiled areas and let it set for several hours/overnight. The next morning, the crud will lift off with a soft scrubbie or magic eraser without damaging the enamel.
My mother taught me to use DRY Comet cleanser (NOT a hint of moisture) on many of these challenges. After wiping the soil with wet, soapy dish cloth, let surface dry. Using a soft cloth, rub the dry Comet on the remaining "soil". Usually, the surface not only comes clean, but shines beautifully! I dab up (or vacuum up) the remaining powder. This works on many things....chrome, white enamel appliances, oven door windows, etc.
I clean mine overnight with bleach soaked strips of paper towel.
I HAVE FOUND THAT THE "ERASER" WORKS GREAT ON ALL SURFACES.
LOIS NEWMAN
For more than 20 years I have used Easy-Off oven cleaner. It used to come in a jar in a liquid form. Now only spray, so I spray a quantity of it into a small Pyrex bowl and use an old toothbrush to brush around my burner area. Leave it on a while, then wipe it all of, along with all the creepy crud, with a wet cloth. Good as new and no scrubbing and no elbow grease. My stove of over 24 years looks as good as new.
try Using a small razor blade scraper—like the kind you use to get paint off windows. Try first on a small spot to make sure you don’t scrape your paint. That is what I used on the glass top stove in my new rental after expensive cleaners & literally hours of elbow grease barely made a dent in the crud. Stove top completely clean in just a few minutes & ZERO scratches!
We always use Spray away and a magic eraser sponge.
A magic eraser works great with water.
weekly maintance, I thew them in the top of my dishwasher
Use baking soda, doesn't scratch the surface
