Hi, Pat!
If the plastic won’t peel off the burner, try heating it with a lighter until it’ softens then gently scrape it with a razor blade, if possible. I hope this helps!

Go to the auto store and get a plastic scraper and scrap the plastic off a little at a time.
You may be able to use a razor blade to scrape some of it off. Only scrape away from yourself.
Turn the burner on low and the plastic will soften, then remove a little at a time using a metal or wooden scraper. It may take some time but it is possible to remove .
Try putting several layers of paper towels on the melted item and press down with a hot iron to see if it loosens the item enough to scrape it off. TURN OFF THE GAS TO BE SAFE.
I would try heating it up again and carefully scraping it off while it is hot.
Hi Pat, hope this helps you out.
Step 1: Let your stovetop cool completely.
Step 2: Start by covering the melted plastic with baking soda.
Step 3: Next, spray liberally with white vinegar.
Step 4: Let the mixture bubble for about 30 seconds.
Step 5: Use a scrubber sponge to remove any stuck on plastic.
Step 6: Remove and discard plastic.
Turn the burner on just long enough to soften the plastic. Use a scraper to remove the plastic.
Turn Gas off from stove before tryng to remove. Do burners come off for cleaning? If so, put in hot soapy water to try to melt the plastic.
Can you take the burner off the stove? If so, heating it up with a blow dryer might work, but remove it first, it will be easier to manage.
