Show yourself! Watch some you tube videos on how to place lights on a tree. It's not that hard. I start at the top and go round and round on the tree.

We start at bottom, makes it easier to plug in.
I think it is best to add lights before adding other ornaments.
First make sure you have big enough lights to wind around your tree. Make sure they work before applying them.
Then make sure you have the plug lead long enough to reach the socket, I plug mine in but don't switch on. Then start to wind them around the tree fix at the top. Then start with smaller baubles to the top working down in sizes. Putting shiny or glass ornaments next to the lights will give you more glow.
We start at the bottom of the tree and work our way up. Plug in all the strands of lights before adding them to the tree
If the outlet to plug in the end of your Christmas tree lights is in a hard to reach, or awkward place, get one of these foot controls. It will save your back.
