How can I redo my marble table top?
I have an antique marble topped end table and it's stained and cracked. Is there anything I can do to make the top pretty again? I'm not against a total re-do. I was thinking mosaics or other ideas.

Hi Kathy, there is a repair kit out there that you could use, see the video attached

Marble is beautiful and to be admired. I would never mosaic over it! I'd do everything I could to repair it. Here's some help.

Call a local granite counter top supplier. They may be able to camouflage the crack and repolish the surface like new. Some of the granite workers are true artisans! They could even replace the top. They don't make tables like that anymore!

I have a marble strip about 5" wide at the entrance to my bathroom. It had a fairly large crack in and years of grime build up. I was going to replace it but before taking that step, I tood my sander, medium grit paper, and sanded it. It looked wonderful! I coated it with polyacrylic clear coating. That was 5 years ago. It still looks great today. So, if you have nothing to lose and were planning on covering it, try this step first!
Do whatever you have to do to save it. Marble is beautiful. Please do not ruin an antique table by tiling over the marble.
Hi Kathy! Interesting and useful article and video others posted for repair...try it! I'm voting for you to keep the marble. Marble is so popular on the internet that some think marble contact paper is great! Keep the real thing on your antique :)
