If you mean the heat cables to keep ice and snow melted, No. The cable just plugs into an outlet and the cable stays warm all season long.

Heat tape has a built in, and extremely basic, Thermostat. If you read the packaging for your cables, it will tell you the temperature cutin/cutout ranges for your cables.
