How do I cover the open back of a refrigerator?
My refrigerator has an open back at the bottom. Is it ok to cover with metal mesh or air conditioner filter?

Hi Lulu, the covers on most fridges are just a rigid cardboard with some air holes in it. you could cut some cardboard to shape, punch coin sized holes in it so the fridge motor can breath, paint it if you like with an acrylic paint, then use the self sticking velcro to attach it, you can buy at it craft stores or hardware stores, even Walmart. that way you can remove it you need to clean the coils.
Why does it matter? Is it against a wall?
Why????
Lulu, Don't cover this area, you fan neads the space to keep the frig and freezer, working properly. Aloha!
I agree, don't cover the area...it needs breathing room....the refrigerator was made purposely with no cover over the bottom part. If you need to cover it up, how about a tall folding screen behind it. I am assuming it is not against a wall?
