I sell a lot of silver on Ebay. Jewelry, silverware, serving sets. Silver polish like Wrights and dips like TarnX tend to remove some of the metal. The foil method doesn't work that great and still leaves a grey film that still needs to be removed. I use white toothpaste (not gel) and a damp toothbrush. For large items I use a damp cloth. Also works on copper, brass, gold, porcelain, ceramics, sneakers, plastics, etc. For my sales I needed one product for cleaning everything.
Notice in the article she states some of the tarnish clinged to the silver. Still had a yellow tinge of tarnish. She used a toothbrush and toothpaste. That is what I use.
Hello Pamela! There are many ways to do this (natural or chemical). Take a look at these links! Good luck to you.

Toothpaste and wash cloth-make sure wash cloth(white is best)doesn't have fabric softener on it. Apply toothpaste dampen cloth with warm water rub,use tooth brush for intricate hard to get to areas. Rinse well with warm water dry thoroughly. Keeping silver in airtight containers(silverware-zip lock bags) helps keep it from tarnishing. Do not wash silver in dishwasher.
Plain old fashioned toothpaste without gel, or any other additives, a rag and a toothbrush for detailed areas. Using the foil method can take off layers of silver over time, it also leaves a grey film that has to be scrubbed off each time. Never use things like Dipit, it also can remove layers of the silver.
Hi Pamela - This is the most effective and all-natural silver cleaning and polishing method that we use. It's also been featured by Hometalk. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
