You can do either one. I always use a paste wax after I've painted a piece. Sometimes I give them two waxes.
I section my furniture off and do smaller areas of waxing/buffing at a time. Examples-one side of a dresser--the legs of a chair and then the top of the chair--the bottom then the top of a buffet/hutch--the sides of a hutch, then the front--the doors of the hutch last--before I buff. I think it's easier this way. You get quite a workout when waxing and buffing a big piece of furniture! And if you have to stop you aren't in the middle of a piece of furniture because you've worked on "sides" of furniture.
I do sections. They could be a foot square or one shelf or the top. Whatever makes sense for that piece.
I don't like, waxed finish. Doesn't hold up to water marks, etc. I Use Rustoleum clear top coat for chalk paint. Easy works great.
Hello! Dixie Belle has two different kinds of clear wax that you can use for your Chalk Mineral Painted pieces!
The first is our Best Dang Wax in Clear, which you can apply with a cloth or brush. https://dixiebellepaint.com/new-and-improved-best-dang-wax/
The second is our Easy Peasy Spray Wax, which you can just spray onto your piece. https://dixiebellepaint.com/easy-peasy-spray-wax-8oz/
It's recommended to work in small sections for both of these products.
