Dressers can be converted into all kinds of interesting things. A couple of ideas: a kitchen island, a TV console, a bathroom vanity or a buffet table. You can also use the drawers for wall-mounted storage. Good luck!
I agree with Faith, I was going to suggest the same makeovers. I am using my mom's counter level double door microwave cart as a kitchen island in my narrow kitchen and it works great as a prep station and storage. Right now it is being used to make gourmet cheesecakes for our friends and families for the holidays and holds our Kitchen Aide mixer and all ingredients without a problem. Before we didn't have enough room on the counters other than using the stove top.
There are many things you coud do. If you post a picture of your dresser we could give you more ideas.
Elaine, if you click on the button in top right called "explore projects" then "upcycle" then "dressers" you will find many ideas. I have picked one for you, but there are many of them shown and you should find one you like: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/bedroom/dressers/turning-an-old-dresser-into-a-media-console-11571682
