The diy kits that are getting a lot of talk these days are meant to be only a temporary decorating 'fix'. The finish can never compare with the durability of brand new laminate.
Hi Ambra! I can tell you how to paint your counter tops with Dixie Belle :)
It is super easy to paint with Dixie Belle.
Step one: Clean with White Lightning
Step two: Apply two coats of Slick Stick
Step three: Paint one to two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint
Step four: Use Gator Hide for a water-repellent finish
No sanding required!

Unless you have an odd countertop you might check with the big box stores and see if they have a countertop to fit. They have some for very reasonable prices and it might be a better looking job. Top with sink might be a good thing instead of all the work that is required to paint formica.
