Wooden Bathroom Countertop
I didn't see the post you are revering too -- but we made ours from furniture grade 3/4" plywood ( ours is birch, but it comes in most any wood grain that you want ) edged it with copper flashing, but you can purchase strips of adhesive strip in the same finish as your wood. We also used a two part poured epoxy finish ( like a bar top ) -- super shiny and a breeze to clean/wipe up.
One of these might be what your looking for.

I did the same as Landshark by using a 3/4 presanded piece of plywood. I finished it with stain and several epoxy coats. It is shiny and protected.
