How do I tuft down pillows to keep the fill from sliding to the top?
My down pillow is unusable as it is because the edge under my head ends up being about half an inch thick with all the down migrated up to the top edge. I'm thinking of using quilting cord to 'tuft' the thing in a pattern to see if it might stop the shifting down. Has any of you done this? I didn't find a video on YouTube which was surprising to me :-).

Make that "Have any of you..." Face palm.
Use smaller pillow case so down is contained in smaller space keeping it from shifting; if you want to "tuft" as you called it(It's actually called baffles) just sew diamond or line shapes in pillow don't use any cording you won't be able to lie on it comfortably and you'll probably still need to add more down to baffles because it will condense the down and you won't get the loft you want in a down pillow. Just try smaller pillow case. Wash then Fluff pillow in dryer regularly. Maybe you need new pillow, down &/or feathers break down after time and need refilled or just replaced.
I had the same issue with my down pillow...My husband paid a fortune for it several years ago , and I love it !!! I looked into having it professionally cleaned and they wanted $90 !!!!! I was afraid to do it myself. But I found an interesting article that said how to properly care for a down pillow. I would just make my bed each Day and toss my pillows on top and that's it . In the artical I read you should thouroghly shake your pillow , roll it around, redistributing the feathers, then shake and fluff it. You should do this every day when making your bed. And a quick version of it before going to sleep. Who knew , not me !!! Since I started doing this my pillow is back to normal !!!😀
Thanks for the replies. My down pillow is way too lofty for me anyway, so I think I'll go ahead and create those baffles. (Used to have one with interior baffles a very long time ago.) As far as trying a smaller case, it is difficult to get into a normal-sized case already; have to smush it down to get it in! Appreciate your help folks.
Hi Noni,
Feather pillows are just wonderful, that being said, have you thought of transferring the feathers to a larger pillowcase? That is what I did and it worked very well. I also use 2 pillowcases (in opposite directions) to keep the feathers inside.
I fluff them in the morning when making the bed and that's all it takes.
Best to you.
What about adding additional feathers to the pillow to fill up the case?
What about adding more stuffinh ?
