you can glue and it might hold, but i would use 1.5" finish nails... if you want them to stay permanently...
I would use both, construction adhesive and nails.
I would use finish nails to adhere the boards.
I think it’s a good idea to use adhesive and nails.
Finding studs would be helpful. They should be 16” on center.
A “nail set” to punch them down would also be useful.
Liquid Nails is a good adhesive then nail trim in with finishing nails to secure.
I problem I have is my boards do not line up with studs..
