Hello Carolann! You can purchase or rent fold up banquet tables if you are looking for some temporary holiday seating.

Buy a 10’ Long piece of plywood, at least 5/8” thick, maybe 3/4” depending on the “platform”. Have the big box DIY store rip it down to the width you need on their panel saw.

What finish on the plywood, depends on if you’re looking for a holiday entertaining solution and a table cloth

or going to keep this and want the wood finish to be stained & sealed.

Then clamp it or screw it into an existing table base from the back side. Add table cloth or

Iron on matching or contrasting edge-banding if you’ll be not using a table cloth.

If you don’t have a existing table or table base, then all kinds of table legs are available at IKEA & Menards. They will need more than 3/4” plywood to screw into & I’d use scraps of the plywood to build up the connection points underneath.

As my family got bigger so did our dinner table. I love my table and didn't want to make any change permanent so my husband built a new top out of plywood and made it box like. It rests right on top of my existing table and the skirting around the plywood keeps it from sliding. I did cover the table top with an old table cloth to protect the finish from any scratches from the homemade top. My table now seats 10 to 12 people. It originally only seated 6. Because of the added length of the table top, my husband attached bracing on the ends of the new top to keep it from bending. We still have a kids table but now all the adults can all sit at the same table. Good luck with your build.
