What can I do with empty 1 gallon plastic distilled water containers with lids?
I use them to water my plants that are in pots. I dig a small hole next to the plant. I fill the bottle with water from my rain barrel. Then, place the bottle in upside down. You may need to use a rock or brick to prop it up. It helps me to cut way down on the water I use for my plants and also the amount of time to water, as I usually only have to do it about every 2 days or so.
Here's a fun project that upcycles them into flowers: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/rooms/recycle-upcycle-water-bottle-ribbon-flowers-16221937

Make clay fairy gardens (miniature) or teach young children/grandchildren to cover them with clay and make fairy gardens, houses, etc. OR Make a vertical herbal garden in the window. OR paint them to make bowling pin games to sell or give away, (we used this as a game in school for math class), OR build a green house out of them by laying them and gluing them together to form the wall of a small green house. OR save craft small items in them to organize and separate small craft or office supplies. OR cut them and use them to start plants in the winter to plant when spring comes. Hope this helps Heather.
What size bottles are you asking about? We use the 16.9 bottles mostly, but do have some in the gallon bottles. We use the gallon bottles to water plants inside and outside. The 16.9 bottles we use to water plants that are smaller and much easier to use than the gallon jugs. We also have a dog that loves to play with the little bottles when you squish them down, she loves the crackly sound! Any bottles left over we recycle. If you cup off the bottom of the bottles or jugs you can use them to fill other things.
Some people use them in gardens or patio containers, filled with water, leaving caps on, but with small holes drilled in caps. This enables water to reach plants slowly/ not near a hose or while homeowners are on vacation.
Fill 80% of bottle with water, freeze, and place in your picnic cooler. This system avoids leaks from bags of ice.
Awesome
Thank you
