How can I light my stairs?
How can i light up a sun porch that we access to get upstairs? During the holidays I wrap lighted garland around the railings & I love the soft glow of the lights, during the rest of the year i have a small lamp with timer at top of stairs. Would love the soft glow year round but can’t come up with anything? Thanks

Solar lights...they make solar lanterns , place several on the steps . They also make fence post solar lights that might work for you .
Can you keep the clear Christmas lights up and use them year round? The kids do that in there form rooms. Clear lights are the in thing for college bound students!
I'm in with the solar light plan. You can do so much with them. If you have a ceiling that is within reach, I'd fashion a chandelier at the turn and the top of the stairs with solar lights and aim the collectors at the windows. That would be totally cool. Don't forget you can cover the light itself with film or paint with stained glass paints and add color to the effect. Have fun!
I think i like the solar like idea, ceiling not in reach but might be able to place them in some niches to achieve the glow. Thanks
Solar lights are a good idea but inside my house they don't get enough light to recharge where I'd want to use them as nightlights. There are battery operated lights with timers that might work for you. Some look like regular nightlights only you don't need a plug. Others look like candles. I expect there are ones that could be laid on the side of a step. The timers can't be adjusted the way a timer used in an electric plug can be--usually they stay on 6 or 8 hours from the time they are turned on & this repeats every 24 hrs.
I think leave the garland up. In the summer you can mix some summer garland in it , maybe wisteria or small bunches of small roses. Fall, just tuck some colorful leaves, you already have Christmas covered so your good. Less work, cheaper and looks good.
LED Rope lighting is another option.
