How do I darken a stain on already stained oak?
Is there any way to darken the color of an orange colored oak furniture without stripping or sanding?

You will need to degloss the finish at least a bit, but you can use a chemical deglosser (ask where you buy paint). Then you can use a colored polyurethane like Polyshades from Minwax to put a darker coat over the existing finish. It won't sink into the grain and highlight it as much as stain on raw wood, but will give a very nice finish that still allows the grain to show through.
Suzanne: I have used gel stain with good success. Most stores (Lowes, Home Depot) have samples of gels on different woods. Go check them out!
Hello Suzanne,
I think polyshades might be the product for your need
Here’s a link to look over the content and see if it’s a product that will meet your needs. It can be applied over existing existing poly finishes without any stripping or sanding. I find reviews and Q&A’s can often direct me towards the correct purchase. Hope this helps.
