Why do I smell sewer gas coming from my bathroom sink?
My bathroom sink never had an odor prior to installing a new sink. All the plumbing is the same and the trap.

If you sink is missing an S curve in it, you might install one. The S shape will contain a little water that is a block to the sewer gas.
Mark,. Call the gas company, you may have a small leak in one of the pipes. If you can, leave the window open just a slight bit. Don't go in there with a cigarette. Maybe the sink was not installed correctly, call the plumber who installed it. Aloha!

I, too, sometimes get a smell that smells like rotten eggs. We’ve never replaced the sink or pipes. A plumber told us it had something to do with the small hole in the sink. I believe that is the “overflow” hole. He said he has the same problem.
Thank you for the great tips.
My plumber suggested 1/2 cup Clorox, 1/2 cup water mixed; pour gently into the drain at bedtime & let sit overnight. Use as routine the next morning. It worked beautifully for me. He recommended it before climbing on the roof to check the vent (cheaper!)..bacteria can accumulate in the trap & the vinegar/baking soda/hot water rinse wouldn’t fix it.
