A crack can be filled by injecting a glue into it. Wipe away excess. Place clamps on it until completely dry. Refinish if you desire, or rub down with RubNBuff in the desire wood tone.
This golden oak table is about 30 years old. It's in good shape except this section that seems to be rotting away. I clean it with Murphy's Oil several times a year....
