How do I spruce up a cinderblock lined shower?
My downstairs shower has walls of cinderblocks. What can I do to make it look better? Can tile be put over cinder blocks?

Hi Bernie. From what I read on line, yes you can put tile on the cinder blocks.
He Bernie, here are some ways to spruce up your cinder block shower. Hope this is helpful. Good luck with your project. (1) Repaint: I have seen painted cement block showers that look pretty nice, but I haven't been able to find the right kind of paint to use at home depot. They tell me they don't know what to use. Should I use a tinted masonary sealer? Would that work for the floor as well?
(2) Tile: Tile seems like a good solution. Can it be applied directly to the cement block and cement floor, or should I use a backer board?
Yes you can! Go for it, have fun.
Not directly over the block. The block walls need to smooth with a layer of latex modified thinset, waterproofed then you can tile. You can also thinset and screw cement board to the block.
