Donna,
More importantly is determining what is causing the mold and rectifying that, otherwise you will continue to have new mold growth. Do you have wet insulation as a result of a roof leak? Do you not have enough air flow between your soffit vents and ridge vent? Is you kitchen or bathroom exhaust fan being improperly vented into your attic? A mold remediation company will spray an encapsulating fungicide that will prevent future growth. You can do it yourself. There are better products than bleach and vinegar to tackle large projects like an attic. Check this out:

Vinegar. But since it is in your attic, you have poor ventilation and this may not be a homeowner DIY. You may just have to call in the pros for this one. If more than surface mold you need the pros. You will need to get a contractor in to determine what is needed to correct the ventilation problem so that when clean it does not recur.

Any mold remediation is heavily regulated by the government for safety reasons. A neighbor attempted to do mold remediation themselves and got caught, they lost their home, and are now homeless and bankrupt. Don't let that be you. There are agencies to help you out if you can't afford it.

Thanks for all the help. We already know the cause, but are trying to save some money on remediation. Right now one estimate is $4200.
