Hi Linda, sorry you are having problems cleaning the caulk around your kitchen sink. Here are some ideas to help you clean it and keep it clean. Keeping Silicone Caulking Clean | DoItYourself.com
Fill a spray bottle with 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water and spray down the caulking and scrub with brush. Any mold that is getting started will be killed because of the vinegar solution. For deeper stains, then leave the vinegar on the caulking for at least 10 minutes before scrubbing with a soft brush.
Yes, but you can do it. Use a knife like an exacto and cut it to get it started. Hopefully you can pull it out and recalk.
Has it always been black or is that mold?
You can remove the silicone/caulking yourself and reapply. Sounds like it's moldy what is the counter made of? Silicone or caulk?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45I81kHIKQg Some how tos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RJ_97IxYI8 more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyBY_y059lk more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_l4WgJnxGQ more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPq4iqxPI2I you can do it cheaper yourself or yes call someone to remove & reapply
You can soak towels or paper towels with the vinegar solution and let sit if just spray & clean doesn't get it.
My solution is not what you are looking for. But I had the same problem and while bleach does work, it does eventually stop working. So, scrape out the old caulking and buy some new and squeeze it on. They sell it now in a tube, and it is really simple to do. The directions are right on the tube. Scraping out the old isn't that difficult, either.
Good luck.
Hi,
Yes it is an easy job to remove. At the same time ask them to replace it with White or maybe Plastic beading or even tile. Best wishes
