How do I repair a toilet leak?
I can hear drips in the drain pipe. NO leaking on the floor. Put dye in tank and left over night. No color in bowl. Tank never runs on its own to refill. Does not leak all the time. I know where the water goes but not where it is coming from.

I can find hundreds of ways to prevent the evaporation on the internet but absolutely no information if it's already happened, what do you do.
You may need to change out the innards of the tank, the rubber, etc. needs to be changed out once in a while. The tank will keep itself full, but if it is leaking around the gasket into the toilet, then the dye would have gone through overnight. It may not be seating well to keep it closed and allows the water to continually come down, even if it is at a slow rate. The toilet bowl itself will take water only to a certain level and it discharges out the extra, thus you will not see the dye.
The drain is also used by a sink and tub/shower if you have them. No dye in the toilet and not running on it's own. May not be the toilet.
Cut water off at intake valve.
Flush to empty and check the flapper ball. If it's soft, mushy, it's time to replace.
While you're at it you may as well replace the float assembly. It could be letting water into the bowl supply tube. You tube has lots of how to vids.
