What is the best technique for re-painting kitchen cabinets white?

Take one of the door fronts or drawers to the paint dept. of your home improvement store and ask for their advice. They have materials you may have never considered and the know-how to do it.
Wash down with TSP and then sand the sheen off. Prime with oil based primer and paint with oil based paint.
Dana! Take down doors and label where they go. Remove hardware (very important if you want a more professional look!) ...prime! ...then two coats of a GOOD latex paint. Paint door frame structure and doors. then: ENJOY!
why not just do a refacing with veneer for the cabinets, not hard to do if you can use carpenter and power tools, and would look much nicer and buy or strip the doors and then stain to match the cabinet
